Finding Your Own North Star: Claiming the Life You Were Meant to Live
by: Martha Beck
Martha Beck’s Finding Your Own North Star is one of my favorite reference guides. It is an entertaining, compassionate, and instructive book on navigating life’s changes.
A large part of what makes this book unique is that it presents a handful of frameworks that you can apply to your understanding of your own life. For example, Beck presents a summary of the process we all go through when our identity changes. Having this roadmap laid out can be reassuring when you’re in the middle of an identity upheaval.
Finally, Beck writes with humor. This is such a rarity in the self help genre that it puts Beck’s book on another playing field entirely. If you haven’t read this book I highly recommend it.
