Here’s a big question for you.
What are the top five outcomes you want for your life?
Take a moment to consider your answer.
It’s easier to chart your career course when you’re connected to your big picture vision for your life and your values.
But, here’s the tricky part. As you go through life, having new experiences and reaching different life stages, your values and your top five outcomes are likely to shift and change.
Your desire to follow a passion might shift to a craving for financial stability. Or you may be contemplating a departure from a high paying job because you’re wanting more day to day fulfillment. Perhaps you’ve been climbing a corporate ladder for years. Then you start a family and what you want most is a less demanding schedule.
Our desires can be like shifting winds, blowing us one way and then another.
It’s important to check in as you go through life and to adjust your course accordingly. It’s not always convenient to make these adjustments. They can be challenging and difficult to weather. But honoring yourself and your own knowledge of what you want for your life is one of the kindest things you can do for yourself.
So what are your top five outcomes for your life? Have the undergone a change recently? Does your life reflect those changes?
