I’m a career coach who helps people improve and change their careers. Yet over the past year you may have noticed that my blog has mostly shifted to cover more general topics. There are two big reasons this happened.
1) Helping someone through the process of a career change is a lot like clearing a toilet clog. There are steps you take to get things unstuck and steps you take to get things moving, but there’s a finite amount to say in a weekly blog post about getting the job done. And I felt like I had already said a lot of it over my seven years of blogging.
2) I knew that you, my readers, aren’t all dealing with career changes. Former clients and other people in my community have many diverse goals and interests that expand beyond career changes. To try to serve this diversity and continue to connect with those of you who aren’t mid-career change, I broadened my focus to include more general (and hopefully helpful!) perspectives on life. I didn’t want to bore you with the same ol’, same ol’ each week.
But for the new year I’ve decided to completely change my approach.
Instead of going broad, I’ve decided to go deep. Deep into the subject matter of career change, and deep into providing a more helpful weekly resource for those of you who are working on solving a career issue. Instead of sharing a mish-mash of random takes on the subject of career improvement each week, I’ve been diligently working on curating my best work from the past seven years into an organized, comprehensive resource for you.
This week I am incredibly proud and excited to offer you, my community, exclusive, early access to the Step-By-Step Career Change E-Course.
This is a totally free, six month long, weekly email course that will guide you through the process of a career change, one thoughtful and doable step at a time. I took everything I know about career changes and broke that knowledge down into an easy to follow process. If you sign up for the course, you’ll receive a weekly email with an encouraging note from me, a concrete and productive career-oriented action step, and a relevant, supporting blog post.
In conjunction with launching this new (amazing!) resource, I am retiring my current newsletter format.
You have two options for how to keep in touch.
Note: You can choose both options 1 and 2. If you are part of my newsletter and do nothing, you will receive a few more reminders about this change, and then you will stop hearing from me altogether.
Option 1) Sign Up For The Step-By-Step Career Change E-Course
Click here to sign up for the free, Step-By-Step Career Change E-Course. This is a great idea if you are dissatisfied with your career and are looking for guidance on how to improve it. The course also contains a ton of practical reminders that will keep you primed to succeed in a job search. So if you’re relatively happy with your career at the moment, but would like some reminders to pay attention to your overall career direction, the course will also be helpful for you. Yes, I’d like this new resource!
Option 2) Sign Up For Personal Stories and Musings from Alison
Click here to sign up to receive occasional personal stories and musings about life (in general) from me. If you are not in the midst of a career change, but would like to keep in touch with me, this is a great option. There are many topics I’ve stayed away from in the past, because they felt too far afield from the career realm, but I’ll be ‘going there’ now. I will only write you when I have a heartfelt, inspiring, or insightful piece that I think is worth your time. Yes, let’s keep in touch!
To conclude, thank you for being a part of my community.
You all are so wonderful. The notes, the blog post comments, and even the sweet ‘unsubscribe’ messages you’ve sent me over the years have been so important to me. I’m glad we’ve been able to connect through this blog, and I truly hope that this change will allow me to be more helpful to you moving forward.
Yours in service, always,
