In last week’s post, I told you that I would be sharing the story of Andrea, who was able to find the right work for her with the support of the Cardy Career Coaching team.
Andrea was an expert in her field. She’s been working in it for 23 years, but she really wasn’t enjoying her work and started to really question whether she was in the right type of work altogether.
She was getting really fed up when people kept telling her she was so lucky to be in Washington DC as it ‘would be easy’ to find a job in Washington. AARGH!
Sometimes when family and friends try to say kind things about your job search, it just doesn’t land the way they intended it to.
Andrea reached out to the Cardy Career Coaching team and began working with her coach who helped her to see a whole new perspective and a different way of going about it from what she had been doing. (There are only so many job alerts that a person can keep up with!)
Andrea saw things more objectively and separately from the influence of family and friends.
She realized it wasn’t the sector she was in that was the problem, it was the culture of the place she was working at that wasn’t a good fit.
She was able to own the fact that she hadn’t been working for seven months, which changed her approach to employers.
She secured work in her sector that is a great match for her values.
She now has a great job that uses her expertise.
The hours are great and there is an emphasis on employee well-being.
She now understands that she’s free to do things differently to get the results she wants, as she did when she decided to work with Cardy Career Coaching.
