As career coaches, my team and I see a lot of people who are wanting that next, great opportunity to land NOW (if not yesterday).
They’re in an in-between place and dealing with a lot of unknowns. It’s uncomfortable!
We’re all in an in-between place and dealing with a lot of unknowns with COVID-19.
So, here’s a quick lesson from the career coaching realm that could shift your perspective.
It’s true that we don’t know when that next job opportunity will land. (Like we don’t know when COVID-19 will be a thing of the past.)
But just for a moment, imagine that you got the job (or got through this time period). We still don’t know the specifics of ‘when’. It might’ve been in 1 day, 6 months, 2 years. But you got it (or through it), and you landed on your feet.
Now connect to that future version of yourself where the result you wanted has already happened. From that vantage point look back on this current time.
How would that future self wish you had spent the time?
Would they want you to be wringing your hands, consumed with worry, out of energy, or depressed?
Or would they want you to relax, to enjoy where you are, to trust the process, and to settle into something engaging in the meantime?
How would your future self love for you to have engaged with the current situation?
We’re seeing professionals who were wanting to make a career change pre-COVID taking advantage of this time to re-group and re-point their careers.
If that’s you, I invite you to apply here for a spot in one of our signature Career CLARITY coaching programs. Your future self will thank you.
