Two and a half years ago I knew something was off in my business.
I felt bored. Frustrated. Constrained. Like I had more to offer.
There was this uncomfortable mis-match between the business I’d created from who I was a decade earlier and who I’d become as a result of building that business.
For a few seasons I distracted this feeling away with new projects.
But at the end of 2018 I hit a breaking point.
I was just done with the old limits I was working within.
So, I decided to step away from all the busyness and to-dos.
In fact, my intention was to break my career coaching business as I went out looking for my next level.
Guys, for someone who has guided hundreds of people through the unknown and has trained 10 coaches in exactly how to do this well, I still made every error in the book.
My brain got wrapped around the axle. I lost sleep. I got confused and hooked on faulty ideas. I fell off my center. I made lots of mistakes.
I peered into many different spaces. I asked for help. I kept trying. I explored. I learned. I kept trying.
For two plus years I hung out in this floaty in-between. (While documenting the whole messy ordeal on my podcast: https://www.toabillionwithjoy.com.)
And then, after what felt like forever, it ended.
I looked around on a recent Friday morning, and I realized that I’d landed.
My days are ridiculously calm and peaceful.
I have routines that sustain me and supports that center me.
I’m sleeping well.
My relationship with my husband is going great.
Money’s flowing in easily.
I’m a part of communities and projects that I love. My podcast is now a collaboration. So fun!!!
The business limits I was sitting in before have been busted through, and there’s all this openness and potential.
My career coaching business didn’t break. I’m happily loving it and leading it. I’m delighted by the wonderful clients we get to serve and the quality of care my team is providing.
Additionally, it finally clicked that my next level is working with powerhouse, visionary, female leaders who have a track record of success in the real world and a feeling that something is off in their career.
Today my personal coaching docket is almost at capacity with these incredible leaders. I love it!
To everyone who helped me, talked to me, connected with me, made an intro, read my rambling emails, cheered me on, or put up with me over the past two years, THANK YOU!
I’m a better coach for all of it.
If you know someone amazing who could use career coaching, I’ve now got two wide open doors.
