About the Complete the Steps Virtual Work Session
Most people who are close to me know that when I decide to tackle a project I show up and get the job done. I’m a fan of project plans, to-do lists, and taking action. This ‘move the ball forward’ energy feeds into the coaching work my team and I do with our clients. We’re all about helping our clients make real world progress. That means getting career clarity, building momentum, and overcoming blocks to improve their careers and lives.
I created the Complete the Steps Virtual Work Session to give you, a Step-by-Step E-Course participant, a small taste of what that progress-oriented vibe feels like. I wanted to help you to keep on top of the course. And I also wanted you to have success with steps that you might be getting stuck with on your own.
The workshop design is based on two productivity tricks that I use in my work all the time.
The first productivity trick is the pomodoro technique. This technique is basically picking a project, setting a timer for a certain amount of time (usually 15-30 minutes), and focusing on that one project (keep all other tabs closed!) until the timer goes off. This little trick has saved me countless times when I’m feeling overwhelmed or unmotivated by the work in front of me. By tackling a doable chunk of work in a manageable timeframe, I’m able to make progress and feel a sense of pride in my accomplishment.
The second productivity trick is live accountability. This technique is just what it sounds like. I grab a buddy, put a task in front of myself, tell my buddy what I’m working on, and I work on it with them looking over my shoulder. Sometimes I ask them to talk it through with me. Other times we work in parallel. Either way, that external, in-the-moment supervision helps me to stay on task and breeze through tasks that may have previously felt daunting.
If you’re serious about improving your career and could use a shot of support, the Complete the Steps Virtual Work Session will help kick you into gear.
